Basic Market Research
Large companies spend millions of dollars each year on advanced market research to find out what prospects are interested in, how customers respond to current product lines, and what the next 12 months might bring given a variety of scenarios.
In-depth research is what allows major soda, fast food, and video game companies to stay at the top of their markets.
But I’m not a multi-million dollar corporation, and neither are you. So national surveys and focus groups are probably outside of our budget allowances.
However, there are still a few basic things we can do to:
- Identify profitable markets for new information ventures.
- Gauge the current online interest level in a market where our traditional brick and mortar business is currently positioned.
There are a few simple research exercises that will, in a nutshell, help you find out if an online interest exists for a project idea or a current business model.
So whether you are just getting started online, and want to find a market or niche that has potential, or you are bringing an offline business to the Web and you want to discover what and where the current online interest level is in products and services like yours, the following suggestions will give you a great foundation for getting your bearings.
Keyword Research
By using one of many great keyword research tools like KeywordDiscovery.com or WordTracker.com, you can find out what Internet users are searching for, and in what quantity popular searches are being performed. This is very useful when you want to find out if an idea already has an interest, plus it’s a great way to find your primary keywords for SEO purposes.
Trends Research
You can also use tools like Google Trends to view the overall search activity around specific terms and phrases over a long period of time. This is an awesome way to see if a niche is growing or declining, or remaining steady.
Checking Out The Current Market
And of course, it’s a great idea to go to Google.com and Amazon.com and do a few searches around your keywords. If you can find a thriving market already in place, it may mean there is a big opportunity for your next move.
This brief post is only the tip of the iceberg of course. But I wanted to get your thought processes moving. I hope you found this info useful, and I hope you’ll take things to the next level with your own research plan.
For a more in-depth strategy on how to find and profit from the best niche markets I strongly recommend the Niche Marketing On Crack report. don’t let the name fool you; it sounds a little whacky but this program is a total blueprint on making money as quickly as possible using cutting-edge online niche marketing techniques.
